Shaheen & Gordon, P.A. serving clients throughout northern New England, welcomes attorney S. Amy Spencer to their team. She recently joined the firm after serving as a judicial clerk to the Honorable Steven J. McAuliffe of the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire.
Spencer has returned to her roots in New Hampshire from New York where she was a litigation associate at Latham & Watkins LLP and McGuireWoods LLP. While there, she focused her practice on white collar criminal defense, complex securities and commercial litigation, regulatory and government investigations, and employment litigation. Spencer also dedicated her time to pro bono programs, in which she represented individual clients and non-profit organizations in matters concerning civil rights, asylum, employment law, and veterans disability benefits.
After earning her B.A. in English from Columbia College of Columbia University, Spencer taught middle school English and served as a Department Chair in Long Beach. She graduated summa cum laude from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles in 2007 and went on to serve as a judicial clerk to the Honorable John E. Sprizzo of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, the Honorable Carolyn Dineen King, of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the Honorable Kevin Thomas Duffy of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Spencer is an active member of the legal and local communities. In addition to serving on the Budget Committee for the Town of Pelham, New Hampshire, she is also a member of the Board of NH Kids Count, a charitable, a non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of children through advocacy of public initiatives that make a real difference.
