Bill Christie, Ben Siracusa Hillman, and Jessica Bellemore of our Concord Office are being honored with the New Hampshire Civil Liberties Union's Bill of Rights Award at a dinner this Sunday, October 5.
The award is in recognition of their successful litigation of a case in Strafford Superior Court, where they obtained a preliminary and permanent injunction prohibiting enforcement of a 2012 law. The law required placement of inaccurate and misleading information on the voter registration form and threatened to disenfranchise voters who live in New Hampshire, particularly college students.
The Superior Court held that the law was an unconstitutional infringement on the fundamental right to vote.
In addition, Shaheen & Gordon, P.A. is being honored more generally for its “zealous advocacy against restrictive ballot access laws that hinder voter choice.”
Way to go guys!
