She began private practice in 1986, after completing a clerkship for the New Hampshire Superior Court. Nancy entered practice with a concentration in divorce, family law, personal injury and civil litigation, and expanded her practice to serve for many years as a Guardian ad Litem in family and criminal cases and to represent juveniles in abuse and neglect, CHINS and delinquency cases.
She joined Shaheen and Gordon in 2002, and successfully represented clients statewide in high net worth divorces, high conflict parenting disputes, guardianships, domestic violence and child support cases, as well as post-divorce modifications of parenting, child support and alimony, and relocation matters. She was successful in both representing clients in mediating disputes and as a mediator, and participates in the collaborative resolution of divorces, in which counsel and parties commit to settlement from the outset of the case.
Nancy received the 2009 New Hampshire Bar Association Family Law Civility and Courtesy Award in recognition by her peers and colleagues of her compassionate representation of and advocacy for her clients, knowledge of the law and professionalism in working with opposing counsel and parties to resolve difficult family law matters.
Nancy was active in non-profit organizations throughout her career, serving on the boards of New Futures, which is dedicated to reducing alcohol and drug problems in New Hampshire, Girls, Inc., New Hampshire Legal Assistance, the New Hampshire Women’s Lobby and the Concord Community Music School. She has served as a consultant to the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence, was a founding member of New Beginnings, A Women’s Crisis Center and has served as a panel member for the Youth Services Program, a juvenile court diversion project.
She retired from full-time practice in 2017.
